From the 24th June, Virgin East Coast Trains will be no more. They will be handing over to LNER who will be running trains up and down the east coast line. As LNER are of course not part of the Virgin umbrella of brands, it will no longer be possible to earn Virgin Atlantic Flying Club miles when travelling on the ex-Virgin East Coast Trains.

The changes are currently planned to come into effect a few days before Virgin Trains East Coast hand over to LNER (those this date is open to change). When the Virgin East Coast Trains website switches over the the new LNER site, you will no longer be able to earn Virgin Atlantic Flying Club miles. This is currently set for 12 noon on Thursday 21st June 2018. Train booking after this dates will no longer earn miles.

From now until 12 noon on 21st June you will continue to earn Virgin Atlantic Flying Club miles, even for travel booked after the change over date. Basically, if you book now on the Virgin East Coast Trains site you will earn Flying Club miles.

You will continue to collect Flying Club miles at a rate of 2 Flying Club miles for every full £1 spent on tickets for a Virgin Trains East Coast journey purchased on the Virgin Trains East Coast website, provided all or part of the journey is on a Virgin Trains East Coast train. Miles will be added to your Virgin Atlantic Flying Club account within 30 days of the switch over to LNER.

All tickets purchased on the Virgin East Coast Trains website for travel on or after 24th June 2018 will be valid on LNER services on the date and time stated on your ticket.
