Airbnb realised a little while ago that for some customers the lack of being able to earn airline miles when booking accommodation was a big issue. If you are able to earn airline miles in a loyalty scheme that you care about then this could be a factor if you book with Airbnb, or through a hotel chain who already have these relationships in place. Airbnb put a stop to that by allowing you to earn miles with selected airlines when booking Airbnb accommodation. Existing Airbnb airline partners include Delta Airlines and Qantas (Virgin America is no longer a partner since their merger with Alaska Airlines). Their new partnership lets you earn ANA miles with Airbnb bookings.
The partnership between Airbnb and ANA (All Nippon Airways) was agreed earlier in the week. There has likely been discussions between the two companies since June of this year, when the Japanese government passed a new law allowing short-term private lodging (Airbnb style rentals). Not only will this benefit both companies but also the Japanese government who are aiming to increase the number of visitors from 24 million (2016 stats) to 40 million by 2020, when Tokyo will host the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
New to Airbnb? Register on Airbnb to receive £25 off your first booking of £55 or more. The free credit is automatically deducted from your first booking. The discount will remain on your account until it has been used, so even if you don’t need to book a trip straight away it is still a good idea to sign up to receive the £25 bonus.
Earn ANA Miles With Airbnb Bookings
To earn miles in the ANA Mileage Club bookings need to be made via the dedicated ANA/Airbnb partnership site.
If you’re a member of ANA Mileage Club, and make an Airbnb booking as a new guest through the dedicated partnership site, you will earn up to 200 ANA miles on the booking. Returning Airbnb guests receive half the amount of ANA miles per booking. Miles can be earned on multiple bookings.
The offer is valid on bookings made before 5th November 2018, for stays completed by 31st December 2018.
Earn Miles With Other Airlines On Airbnb Bookings
As well as the latest addition of ANA, it’s also possible to earn Delta SkyMiles and Qantas points when making an Airbnb booking. There are also bonus mileage Airbnb promotions running with both airlines.
If you already have an Airbnb booking, and want to earn airline miles for the stay in any of the partner airlines you will need to cancel your existing stay and rebook. Make sure to check the cancellation policy to ensure you receive a 100% refund, as cancellation policies vary per property.
