One of Novotel‘s most popular properties in London, the Novotel London Blackfriars Hotel, is situated on the south bank of the River Thames. The 182 room, 4 star hotel has a beautifully designed contemporary style and benefits from an indoor heated swimming pool, sauna and fitness centre. The hotel is also walking distance way from the nearby Southbank and Waterloo tube stations which take you into the heart of the city.
Room rates per night when looking around 6-8 weeks in advance are around £150 for a Superior Premium Room (their basic room), £190 for an Executive Premium Room, and £220 for an Executive Suite. By signing up as an Accor member and booking the London Blackfriars hotel direct you can save up to 10%.
We arrived in a black cab directly from Kings Cross station booked using the Gett app. The journey took around 15 minutes in a little bit of light traffic and cost around £12. The staff member at reception took only a couple of minutes to complete the check-in process, upgrade the room from a Superior Premium Room to a Executive Premium Room thanks to my Accor status, issue 2 free drinks vouchers, and hand over the room key. I must say that the check-in process at this hotel was seamless.
After collecting the room key we headed up to the top floor of the hotel, the 13th floor.

Overall this Novotel property exceeded my expectations. The fact that they were able to upgrade the room, offer 2 welcome drinks, and a late checkout made the stay even better. The Novotel London Blackfriars also has an impressive swimming pool for a London hotel. If you’re looking for a hotel on the south bank, near to the Shard, this is definitely worth considering.
When I’m next in London I will be checking the room rate and availability of this property.
