Airbnb recently published details of how they performed over the summer months. Summer 2017 has been their biggest travel season since the conception of the company, with a total 45 million guests staying in Airbnb properties around the world. Peaks for Airbnb have mainly been in Asia but Fort William, Scotland has been named in the top 10 highest growth destinations. Fort William Airbnb bookings were up 156% compared to last year.
Airbnb’s increase in the amount of bookings is partly due to the series of promotions they have been running over the summer months. One of their best and most lucrative promotions offered American Express cardholders 2% cashback when booking Airbnb stays. Airbnb are also continuing to focus their attention towards business travellers, after their launch of the Airbnb Business Traveller scheme, which rewards guests with around £40 of Airbnb credit in the form of a voucher, to use towards a future stay. Their airline partnerships also continue allowing guests to earn miles on Airbnb bookings, though Virgin America has been removed as a partner since their merger with Alaska Airlines.
New members who sign up to Airbnb receive £25 free credit.
