Virgin America Elevate Series – Earning Elevate Points With Credit Cards (Part 2)

One of the easiest ways to earn points in any frequent flyer scheme is through credit card bonuses and regular spending. Currently Virgin America do not have their own branded credit cards available for UK residents, but there are still ways of earning Elevate points with credit cards. You can indirectly earn Virgin Elevate points through other credit cards here in the UK, who are partners with Virgin America.

American Express Credit Cards

Virgin Elevate are not partners with American Express so you cannot directly transfer American Express Membership Rewards points into Virgin Elevate points. American Express however are partners with Starwood (SPG), who are in turn partners with Virgin Elevate. By passing though Starwood (SPG) you can transfer points from American Express to Virgin Elevate. This is the magic link to earning Elevate points with credit cards, for UK based residents.

American Express -> Starwood Preferred Guest -> Virgin Elevate

If you are new to Starwood, and their hotel loyalty program register for an account, and then add your membership number to your American Express account to transfer the points. Points transfer from American Express are at a ratio of 2:1 (2 American Express Membership Rewards points = 1 Starwood SPG point), then to Virgin Elevate at a ratio of 1:1 (1 Starwood SPG point = 1 Virgin Elevate point).

If you need to boost your American Express points balance you can easily do this by registering for a new credit card.
