Earlier this year Tesco launched a new card to its collection, the Tesco Premium Credit Card. The card builds on the already great Clubcard scheme with some extra benefits. This is now the best Tesco card card on the market purely in terms of building Clubcard points (which can be converted into British Airways Avios, Virgin Flying Club miles, or other benefits). You should check if these benefits justify the £150 annual fee.
Benefits include preferred Clubcard points compared with the basic card, 5000 bonus Clubcard points when you spend £5000 on your Premium Credit Card at Tesco in any year (these would convert to 12,000 Avios or 12,500 Virgin Flying Club miles), annual worldwide family travel insurance if you’re aged under 70, and £50 off a British Airways Club Europe return flight.
Extra 2500 Clubcard Points
Hidden on the Tesco site is an option to receive a further 2500 Clubcard points. To qualify sign up to the Tesco Premium Credit Card and either make a balance transfer or a purchase within the first 30 days of opening the account.
These additional 2500 Clubcard points will boost your Avios or Virgin Flying Club miles by a further 6,000 or 6,250 respectively.
Offer ends 31st August 2016.
If you would prefer £60 cashback to offset the £150 annual fee (lowering it to £90 for the first year) sign up for the card via Topcashback. The cashback is available to new and existing Topcashback members.
Each year the premium credit card will be billed, currently £150 per year, so consider if you still continue to use the benefits, or cancel before the end of the current year.
