REVIEW: Sheraton Fuerteventura – A Beach, Golf & Spa Resort

There are 3 Starwood Hotels across the Canary Islands, all of which are Sheraton properties. These are split across islands including Gran Canaria, Tenerife and Fuerteventura. The Gran Canaria and Tenerife properties both fall into category 4 at 10,000 SPG points per night, while the Fuerteventura property is category 3 at 7,000 SPG points per night. The Sheraton Fuerteventura hotel was re-banded towards the beginning of this year and was actually a category 2 hotel! The 7 night stay was booked prior to the re-banding at a total of 26,000 SPG points (no cash or local taxes due). Read on for the full Sheraton Fuerteventura review.

The Hotel

The hotel is located in Caleta de Fuste around 10 minutes in a taxi from Fuerteventura Airport. There are regular flights from the UK operated by the low-cost carriers such as Ryanair and Jet2, and also an opportunity to use Avios points if travelling on Iberia.

The Room

Starwood are great at rewarding their elite guests who are part of Starwood Preferred Guest loyalty scheme. I’ve stayed at this same hotel before, but on this visit I received loads of extras thanks to the SPG elite status.

  • Welcome drink at check in
  • 1 week of free WiFi (normally €30 for a week pass)
  • Upgrade to ocean view deluxe room with balcony on top floor
  • Free drink voucher
  • Spa entry voucher
  • Welcome fruit in room

The Facilities

The Sheraton Fuerteventura is branded as a beach, golf and spa resort. The beach is directly opposite the hotel, a 30 second walk from the pool area. The golf course is just across the road, around 5 minutes away. The spa is in the main part of the hotel near to reception. All the beach, golf and spa facilities can be used by hotel guests and paying members of the public.

The Verdict

Overall I was extremely pleased with the Sheraton Fuerteventura. The room was a good size, complete with balcony, and quiet being on the top floor. All staff throughout the stay were excellent, from reception right through to housekeeping. The hotel is well positioned for a long weekend away due to regular flights to and from the UK, and being close to Fuerteventura Airport. The only improvement would be for free daily water to be delivered to the room as part of the housekeeping service, but overall I would highly recommend the Sheraton Fuerteventura.
